We have been informed that the Far North District Council is processing an application for a redevelopment of Hananui Lodge Motel opposite the Russell Town Hall. We understand the the FNDC planing department is currently assessing the application to determine how to proceed in terms of notification.
The proposal is for a 3 storey, 21 unit apartment complex which would double the current capacity and increase the size of the existing building considerably.
Update December 08 - it has been reported in the press that Dew Drop Properties has gone into receivership and we understand that the application has been withdrawn
Long Beach, Russell: Application to subdivide creating 6 residential sites on Long Beach. We attended the hearing and spoke to our submission. The Council has declined consent on 23 April 2007. The applicant has appealed the decision to the Environment Court. (click to read submission)
Pomare Ave, Te Wahapu: RC-2060752-RMASUB non-complying Application to construct a house in Te Wahapu requiring resource consent. The application was on halt on request of the applicant in the light of 15 plus opposing submission. (click here to read submission).

Proposed Plan Change No 4 to the Regional Coastal Plan for Northland: Submission to the NRC on the proposed private plan change No 4 relating to Aquaculture Management Areas. This is currently being processed and was scheduled for hearings in November 07.
Bay of Islands Community Wastewater Scheme: Application for Resource Consent for the proposed Mega-Sewerage Scheme. The Far North District Council has applied for Resource Consent to build an enormous sewerage treatment plant at the Waitangi wetlands to discharge all of the Bay of Islands sewage, including Russell's into the wetlands.
