Pomare Ave, Te Wahapu - Application to construct a house

Pomare Ave, Te Wahapu: RC-2060752-RMASUB non-complying Application to construct a house in Te Wahapu requiring resource consent. The application was on halt on request of the applicant in the light of 15 plus opposing submission. (click here to read submission).

The proposal was then re-designed but in our view is still too intense for the section size considering the zoning provisions. The hearing was held on 12 November 2007, the RPS attended the hearing with a new submission.  The Council approved the application on 17-12-07, taking little regard of opposing submissions presented at the hearing.

The reasons and some evidence presented at the hearing raise concern as to how our district plan is administered. While the Council approves intense non-complying "management plan" subdivisions including many pages of detailed and partly complicated conditions, it approves at the same time non-complying building consent applications. We think it is impossible for the FNDC to enforce all these conditions over time. Decisions such as these serve to undermine the District Plan and result in uncontrolled development.
